Frequently asked questions about portraits

No question is too big or too small. If your question is not answered below please contact us and we’ll do our best to give you all the answers.

Do you have a studio?

Unfortunately, as of October 2024 we no longer have a studio available in Burnham.

We do have access to a studio in Wycombe if required. Hire costs apply.

Do you set up a studio in our home?

With the exception of headshots, the answer is No.

Portable lighting may be used, but location portraits are environmental meaning a ‘natural’ backdrop.

A studio type backdrop will NOT be used.

Your living room, garden, or the great outdoors wherever the shoot takes place, will appear as the background of your portraits.

What are your opening hours?

The nature of the business means we do not have a fixed working day. Portrait session are most successful between 9am-5pm.

In addition to normal office hours, some evening appointments for meetings and viewings are also available Mon-Thurs . 

How long have you been a photographer?

Christopher Hill Photography has established in Burnham, Bucks since 1988.

How many photos will you take on a portrait session?

There is no specified number of images that will be taken. Numbers will vary depending on the willingness of subjects on the day.

Can I get just ONE digital headshot for LinkedIn?

Yes of course. Headshot packages function differently to family portraits.

Do we get all of the images digitally?

New digital packages have been introduced in 2024 which include a selection of images from an online gallery. 

Sessions can include between 6-40 images depending on the package booked.

Our motto is quality over quantity.

If you purchase hi-res digital images, you will get full printing rights so you will be able to print, copy and share your images as much as you like for your personal use. To help prevent fraudulent use of the images or theft etc. Christopher Hill Photography will retain copyright.

You may not use or sell your portrait images for commercial/profitable gain.

If you have a project that requires exclusive rights and full ownership of copyright, please contact us to discuss rates.

Purchase of prints does not include the digital file.

A password protected online gallery will be available for you to select your images.

After receiving your selection, each image will be individually be assessed prior to sending you watermark-free Hi-Res files of the paid for images.

Do you do passport photos?

Unfortunately, we no longer offer a passport service.

Will our images be 'Photoshopped'?

All images will be checked for correct colour and density prior to the viewing.

Images chosen for the order will be re-checked and retouched if necessary.

Digital re-touching of non-permanent spots or skin blemishes may be carried out free of charge at our discretion.

Requests for other retouching, including removing tattoos and body shaping, are chargeable.

Whilst we aim to please, we reserve the right to decline manipulation orders.

We are very private people. Is it ok not to put our photos online?

Yes of course. Let us know before the photo session and we will not post a blog or social media.

Are you insured?

Yes. Not only is our equipment is insured against  damage but we also have Public Liability insurance up to £5,000,000.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes. Chris holds an Enhanced DBS certificate.

What are your payment terms?

A 25% booking fee is required for portrait sessions on location. The final balance is due 24 hours prior to the session.

Orders for products from your session are accepted with full payment at the time of placing your order. 

Do you accept credit cards?

Our preferred method of payment is bank transfer but we do accept most credit/debit cards.

We regret we do not accept cheques or American Express.
